In the IMDG Code, this substance is identified in the index as a marine pollutant and assigned to UN 3082.

However, the classification is not known for this regulation. In 2003, it was still mentioned by name in sub-section 2.2.9.4 of the ADR and assigned to UN 3082. The consignor is responsible for the correct classification according to 1.4.2.1.1:

"1.4.2.1.1 The consignor of dangerous goods is required to hand over for carriage only consignments which conform to the requirements of ADR. In the context of 1.4.1, he shall in particular:

a) Ascertain that the dangerous goods are classified and authorized for carriage in accordance with ADR;
